Mr. Justin Compton

Mr. Compton is a 2006 graduate of Jemison High School in Jemison, AL. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Troy University, where he studied trumpet with Dr. James Zingara and conducting with Dr. Mark Walker. He then continued his education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), studying trumpet with Dr. Zingara and Dr. Steven Roberts, and conducting with Dr. Sue Samuels. While at UAB, Mr. Compton served as a graduate assistant in the Band program, where he instructed the UAB Marching Blazers and assisted with various band activities. He completed his Master of Arts in Education from UAB in 2013 and earned an Ed.S in Instructional Leadership Administration from Troy University in 2023.

Currently, Mr. Compton serves as the Director of Bands at Dauphin Jr. High School. Under his leadership, the band program has grown to include two concert ensembles, a homogeneous beginning band, and a curricular jazz ensemble. He collaborates closely with Mrs. Sophia Compton, the Director of Bands at Coppinville Jr. High School, overseeing the curriculum and recruitment for Junior High Bands in Enterprise City Schools. Notably, the Dauphin Jr. High School Symphonic Band received an invitation to perform at the 2024 Alabama Music Educators’ Association Conference.

Before his current role, Mr. Compton was the Director of Bands at Zion Chapel School in Jack, Alabama, where he served for six years. His leadership led the Zion Chapel Symphonic Band to perform at the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., Universal Studios Florida, and the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. Earlier in his career, he was the Director of Bands and Choirs at Jackson Middle School and the Assistant Director of Bands at Jackson High School, both in Jackson, Alabama. Ensembles under his direction consistently received Superior ratings at regional marching competitions and the Alabama Bandmasters Association District VIII Music Performance Assessment.

Mr. Compton resides in Enterprise with his wife, Sophia, and their twins, Oliver and Clover.
